SCABS: Disgusting, Fun and ‘Bloody Amazing’ Educational New Book Urges Children to NEVER Pick their Scabs!
In what could be the most unique (and frankly gruesome) release of 2015, Dan Butler takes children’s books to a whole new realm with ‘SCABS: Picking Apart The Facts - The Bloodiest Book of the Century - An Educational and Fun rhyming story for children’. With the author promising that he will shock kids, evoke horror and immerse them in images they will never be able to forget, his book also has a quirky educational element. Thought picking a scab was innocent good fun? Think again!
While most children’s books are filled with bright colours, furry characters and innocent frolicking, Dan Butler’s unconventional approach swaps out the norms for horrifying bloody illustrations and descriptions so gruesome they will stick with kids for a lifetime. The chosen subject of his debut children’s book is scabs, and he somehow manages to pull it all off perfectly.
There’s nothing conventional about ‘SCABS: Picking Apart The Facts - The Bloodiest Book of the Century - An Educational and Fun rhyming story for children’.

"SCABS: Picking Apart The Facts.
The Bloody Book That Nobody Should Read, But Everybody Is!
“This is a short rhyming story for children unlike anything on the market,” explains the author, who became a bestseller in his category and handles all aspects of the book’s design and publishing. “The core goal is to entertain and shock young readers while teaching them why to never pick their scabs. It’s certainly a lesson that they won’t be forgetting any time soon.”
Continuing, “They’ll be transported through the entire process of coagulation, from slash to scar and all of the nasty, grim details in between. If you thought learning about the body was boring, then think again. But, while being totally off the wall, my book does conform to the rhyming structure that is proven to engage children. If they’ve got a strong stomach and are inherently curious, I don’t think there’s a better book on the market.”
Readers agree, leaving many positive reviews. Sam Marshall-Hill comments, “I thoroughly enjoyed the musical prose describing one of the more visceral aspects of our bodies! You'll find yourself drawn in by the easy rhythm of the poetry and the (often gross) imagery it creates. This is definitely worth a read- so download and dive in!”
Steve adds, “Very easy read, but also cleverly written in poetry style. I think the grossness in parts will appeal to younger readers, but the style of writing will appeal to older readers to..so all round a very well written and compiled factual book for all ages. Well done.”
